India's successful engineer Mokshgundam Visvesvaraya was born in Chikkaballapur taluka of Kolar district of Mysore (Karnataka). His father's name was Srinivasa Shastri and mother's name was Venkachamma. Father was a Sanskrit scholar.
Visvesvaraya is said to be the father of India's technology. They were endowed with virtues like honesty, sacrifice, hard work etc. He had said, whatever the work, but it has been done in such a way that it is superior to the work of others.

Sir M. Vishweshwariya was a great engineer and he has made an unforgettable contribution to the successful implementation of several important works such as river dams, bridges, and drinking water schemes. In recognition of his contribution to the field of engineering, he was awarded 'Bharat Ratna' in 1955.
